Giftedness & Twice Exceptional (2e)All children are gifted in one way or another, but some children are considered to be cognitively gifted. These children have strong learning abilities, but they may struggle with social interactions. Through giftedness testing, parents and caregivers can find the best educational and social accommodations to meet a gifted child’s needs.

CNLD Testing & Therapy offers giftedness testing, twice exceptional testing, IQ testing, and neuropsychological evaluations for children. If you’d like to learn more about our testing services, please call (734) 994-9466 to reach one of our knowledgeable staff members.

What Are Signs My Child Might Be Gifted?

Gifted children often develop at different rates than their peers. They may soar above their classmates academically but struggle to adapt to social settings. With giftedness testing, you can point out you’re your child’s unique strengths are and learn how to use them to boost other areas of development. Gifted individuals may have the following behavioral characteristics:

  • Intensity and sensitivity
  • Curiosity and questioning
  • Interest in experimenting and doing things differently
  • Divergent thinking
  • Unusual memory
  • Unusual sense of humor
  • Complex need for organization

There can be substantial variations in skill level within a gifted child (with his/her cognitive skills, learning ability, emotional regulation, and judgment). Inconsistent development can lead to significant frustration, particularly if the child is perfectionistic and/or has an intense personality. While their knowledge may be exceptional, there are still other factors at work that are not allowing them to reach their full potential.

What Happens after Giftedness Testing?

After giftedness testing, you can work with our educational advocate to create a plan for your child’s schooling. You’ll receive dedicated support to ensure your child has the best chance at overall success. If you would like child counseling or family counseling, we provide those services as well.
