What Is the Goal of Couples Therapy?

Couples counseling is a personalized experienced, customized to suit each relationship. We work collaboratively with individuals along with their relationship partners to define the core issues that need to be addressed. What are the root causes of relationship tensions? What areas would you like to see improvement in?

Often the goal is to improve the sense of connection; however, there are times where the decision is to end the relationship. In these circumstances we will work to address co-parenting, along with working to disengage with kindness and care.

No matter what the goal of couples counseling is for your relationship, your therapist will provide effective coping strategies and problem-solving solutions that you can use to improve communication. Avoid conflict, reduce the severity/frequency of arguments, open healthy lines of communication, and bring closure to past disputes. All of this and more is possible through effective couples counseling.

Please be aware that the State of Michigan has determined that couples/marriage therapy is not medically necessary. Therefore, this service is not billable to insurance.
