Lori Miles, LPC
Lori Miles is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan and a certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Certified Criminal Justice Professional through the Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (MCBAP).
Ms. Miles earned her Master’s in Arts Degree in Counseling from Oakland University in 1988. She has over 30 years of experience in providing mental health and substance abuse treatment in outpatient practice and criminal justice settings.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Miles has gained experience in working with individuals aged 14–70 from a wide variety of backgrounds. She has experience and expertise in treating substance use disorders, anxiety, ADHD, anger management, and depression. She relies on evidence-informed treatment modalities – particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness.
Ms. Miles also specializes in providing evidence-based Executive Function Skills Coaching to adolescents and young adults to help foster success in school both academically and socially. This coaching program is designed to help improve functioning in areas such as planning, organizing, decision making, attention, regulating behavior, solving problems and evaluating choices.
Ms. Miles utilizes a strengths-based and solution focused approach to treatment to assist individuals in identifying the power they have within themselves to make and maintain positive changes. She is able to work with potential barriers such as thinking errors or past experiences that may impede progress. The therapeutic environment is crucial to success and she provides a safe and supportive space that allows clients to develop the skills and knowledge to progress on the goals they have established for themselves.
