Julie Corey, MA, LPC
Julie Corey is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan and a nationally certiﬁed counselor through the National Board for Certiﬁed Counselors (NBCC). She is also a state certiﬁed school counselor and a certiﬁed Global Career Development Facilitator. She has 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults.
Ms. Corey earned her Master’s in Counseling from Eastern Michigan University in 2017 and also holds a Master’s in Art Therapy from Wayne State University (2000). She worked as a teacher and school counselor with the Pinckney Community Schools and as a career counselor with the Brighton Area Schools, as well as working with college and community clients at the Eastern Michigan University Counseling Clinic.
Ms. Corey has had the privilege of working with people facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and Attention Deﬁcit Hyperactivity Disorder. Ms. Corey’s areas of focus include supporting children and adults to improve executive functioning skills. With a background as a teacher and school counselor, she has a broad range of knowledge about creating and implementing supports for school-aged students. Ms. Corey also has a passion for career counseling and has speciﬁc training to oﬀer assistance to adolescents and adults thinking about their future education and career paths.
Ms. Corey’s approach is strength-based and solution focused, utilizing techniques from diﬀerent therapeutic perspectives including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Art Therapy. She creates a safe and non-judgmental space for clients and emphasizes collaboration to reach client goals.
