There are three types of testing (also called assessments) that are provided at CNLD:

1. NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

This is the most thorough and comprehensive of all the assessments available we offer. During the assessment, we will examine: intellectual and executive functioning; reading, writing, and math skills; language ability; problem solving; memory and learning; attention; motor skills; and personality assessment.

Neuropsychological testing focuses on:

  • how an individual best learns information
  • identifying a specific learning style, if possible
  • interferences with learning, particularly regarding a learning disability, attention disorder, processing problem, or emotional concern

2. DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT

This type of evaluation is completed with younger children (ages 2-5) who may be experiencing a delay with language, social skills, or preschool adjustment.

3. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

A good way to think about this assessment is "personality testing." It typically is used for diagnostic purposes when a client is experiencing emotional or psychological distress.

4. GIFTEDNESS EVALUATIONS

As part of school requirements or program admissions, we offer IQ testing for children ages three and older. We also assess twice exceptional students who are gifted and struggling in school.

Coming to see you for an evaluation was so helpful and I’m so happy that I did this. After struggling for years with ADHD – but not knowing that’s what it was – and almost completely ruining our marriage because of it, your diagnosis helped more than you could know. Now I know that it’s not just me – the diagnosis has turned our lives around and helped me feel more accomplished at work. Thanks again for everything.
