When you or your child are not performing up to your potential at work
or school, you may be struggling with a learning disability. In other
words, you may learn differently. Its not about whether or not youre
smart - lots of very bright and successful people have struggled with
learning disabilities (Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Tommy Hilfiger,
Charles Schwab, Patrick Dempsey, and Whoopi Goldberg, to name a few).
Learning disabilities manifest themselves in various ways:
- problems with reading (dyslexia), writing (dysgraphia) or math (dyscalculia)
- difficulty remembering information
- problems with organization and reasoning
- physical coordination issues
- problems with social relationships
Learning disabilities occur in at least 5% of the population, and reading problems (dyslexia) are the most common.
Our
LD assessments will provide:
- Pinpointed origins and diagnoses of the persons learning struggles with effectively planned interventions.
- A better understanding of the following: intellectual functioning; academic achievement in reading, writing, and math; language; problem solving and executive functions; memory and learning; attention; motor skills; and personality assessment.
- Identification of how an individual best learns information, his/her favored learning style, and how to most effectively assist the client in a learning situation.
- An individualized academic plan (for those in school), created by our psychologists, to help the student reach his/her full potential.
- Personalized implementation of the academic plan with our psychologists.
The staff of CNLD is on the cutting edge with the latest developments in the field, including Response To Intervention (RTI) and effective remediation techniques.

Autism is a tough enough thing to live with every day, but add in emotional and social issues and things can get pretty overwhelming! Your ability to take all these complicated issues, bring them together, and provide clear and concise guidelines for how to make things better how can we thank you? Of course, there are still struggles (and always will be), but we understand now how to lessen the frustration level when we see Sarah escalating. Well keep you posted on how shes doing.
Thanks again.
